Client Success Story > STP and SFW deployment in the operator’s environment
Signaling Transfer Point (STP) and Signaling Firewall (SFW) deployment in the operator’s environment
A leading operator in Qatar was instructed to modernize its core network with new cloud technologies and change the traditional bare metal type of deployment and solutions. The deadline for the project was very short, and no extension was granted due to strict government orders. The customer’s STP, the centralized routing agent needed to be deployed and commissioned to complete this project on time.
The Challenges
Timelines were very short with no extensions and the STP deployment had to be completed first. The second step was configuration changes in the STP to migrate the old Home Location Register (HLR) to a modernized HLR.
The traffic migration towards the new HLR was done in a phased controlled manner. First, only a few subscribers were migrated, and later batches of 20%, until all subscribers were completely migrated.
The customer’s STP deployment needed to be integrated with multi-generational products in the modernized core.
Telaverge deployment engineers were deployed, and they helped integrate the operator STP. As the deployment had to be completed very fast, Telaverge engineers were working 24/7 shifts. They successfully completed the tasks related to integration and deployment well within the deadline.
The deployment engineers discussed the migration strategy with the operator team and came up with the rules that routed subscribers, based on IMSI and MSISDN, towards the new HLR in batches.
Deployment engineers configured the rules and helped the operator to migrate customers to the new upgraded HLR.
STP deployment and commissioning were completed ahead of schedule.
The operator was able to migrate the traffic toward the new HLR efficiently.
Core modernization was completed well ahead of schedule.
