Streamlining Operations for an Australian Telecom Leader with Customized RHEL 8 CDA Upgrades
The customer was already using a customized application running on RHEL 7, which was approaching its end-of-life. A new solution on RHEL 8 was tested in the customer’s lab to ensure compatibility and functionality. A detailed Method of Procedure (MOP) was prepared to upgrade the RHEL 7-based solution in production to RHEL 8 without service impact, as this was a major upgrade requiring meticulous planning and execution.
The Challenges
The customer was running an outdated version of the operating system, creating security and compatibility issues.
There were no scalability options in the existing infrastructure, limiting future growth.
The existing RHEL 7 based solution was using TIPC based implementation for internal HA between the nodes. But the new RHEL8 based implementation is based on SCTP multicast.
Upgrade needs to be performed without service interruption and in short time period.
The Solutions
Migrated the customer's infrastructure to RHEL 8 to ensure compatibility with the latest security protocols and features.
Implemented scalable architecture to support future growth, improving performance and reliability.
Enabled multicast support to enhance system performance and accommodate future network expansion needs.
The Outcomes
The upgrade to RHEL 8 ensured the system met the latest security standards, protecting against vulnerabilities.
Scalable architecture allowed the system to grow with the customer’s needs, ensuring continued operational efficiency.
Multicast support improved network performance, especially for high-volume data transmission.
